Extractions and Surgical Procedures

If your child needs a tooth extraction or other complicated surgical procedure, Dr Stephen and Dr Paul are highly skilled and have extensive experience guiding families through the required procedures.

At Southside Paediatric Dentistry, we aim to preserve every tooth whenever possible. However, there are times when a simple extraction may be necessary due to factors such as extensive decay, abscessed teeth, hypomineralised molars, or orthodontic needs.

We use local anesthesia to numb the area and ensure your child feels no pain during the extraction. The procedure is generally straightforward, though sometimes it may require minor oral surgery to access the root beneath the gum. After the extraction, your child might experience some pain or discomfort, but this can be managed with pain relief medication. We will provide you with clear instructions to help your child recover comfortably and smoothly.
